Spring and Skin Cancer Awareness

Spring Is Here!

The temperatures are rising and the flowers are blooming, meaning the sun has finally come out again! As you enjoy these longer days, remember to apply your sunscreen and practice sun-safe behaviors. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, and it is preventable. It’s never too late to start reducing your risk.

From youth who think they are invincible from the damaging effects to seniors who think the damage has already been done, the beauty of Spring and Skin Cancer Awareness month provides an opportunity to educate everyone.

Sun damage is cumulative

This is why it’s never too early or too late to start protecting your skin by wearing sunscreen daily, and practicing sun safe behaviors. Wear a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher that contains zinc, reapply every hour or 2 if swimming or heavy sweating, avoid the sun between 10a-4p, wear sun protective clothing and wide brimmed hats.

Start now to keep your skin healthy for life. If you have questions about which sunscreens and sun safety behaviors, call George Dermatology today (314)344-0004. We are here to help!
